Eid al-Fitr: This festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. Muslims in Tamil Nadu offer special prayers, exchange greetings, and share sweets and gifts with their family and friends.
Eid al-Adha: Also known as Bakrid, this festival commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God. Muslims in Tamil Nadu offer prayers, sacrifice an animal, and distribute the meat among family, friends, and the poor.
Milad-un-Nabi: This festival marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. Muslims in Tamil Nadu offer special prayers, hold processions, and exchange greetings on this occasion.
Muharram: This is the first month of the Islamic calendar and is observed with great solemnity by the Shia Muslim community in Tamil Nadu. The tenth day of Muharram, known as Ashura, is a day of mourning, as it marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
