Early Life
Ajith had his schooling in Asan Memorial Sr. Sec. School, Chennai, from where he dropped out in 1986 to become a part-time 2-4 wheeler mechanic. He was a full-time garment exporter based in Erode till 1990. Ajith Kumar entered into the modelling industry and acted in advertisements in the print media. This paved way to his career in Telugu and Tamil film industry. He is a determined person who broke his vertebra and lost feeling in his legs, but he vowed to recover and walked all way from his home in Chennai to the Tiruati Shrine in Andhra Pradesh.

Ajith Kumar's film career started at the age of 21. He was debuted in the Telugu film 'Prema Pustagam' in 1992. His Tamil debut was in the film 'Amaravathi'. Ajith Kumar's turning point in the film industry came with the success of the Tamil film 'Aasai' in 1995. The film was directed by Vasanth and produced by Mani Rathnam.
Ajith acted in many hit films after the success of Aasai. Some of his major films were 'Kalloori Vaasal' in which he acted along with Prasanth and Pooja Bhatt and 'Kadhal Kottai' with Devayani and Heera. He performed extremely well in high-budget and major studio films, ranging from romantic comedies and drama to science fiction and action thrillers. Career in Motor Racing
Ajith is a professional motorcyclist. He drove in circuits around India in places such as Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. He went abroad for some races in Germany and Malaysia. He is also a professional motorcar racer. He took part in Formula 3 championships and for the Japanese company, Mango Racing. In the 8th race of the 'British Formula - 3 Motor Racing', held on May 16th 2004 at Knockhill, Scotland, Ajit Kumar attained Podium Finish, reaching the 3rd position amongst 23 drivers combining class A and B put together. But he has reassured the film industry that his career in motor-racing would not affect his contracts for films.

Ambassador for the Green Revolution
Ajith Kumar works as the Ambassador for the Green Revolution. The revolution is an effort to clean up the Chennai environment and encouraging people to plant saplings. He uses his films for subtle marketing of his ideas in this regard. Ajith lead the way in greening his locality in Adyar, Chennai he planted 101 saplings on Sunday 26th December. Ajith Fans Welfare Association along with Exnora International has decided on a series of programmes to grow many new forms of life.
