Relics of body of St. Francis Xavier - A closer view. St. Francis Xavier was a member of the Society of Jesus who preached the enlightening teachings of Christianity when he came to India along with the Portuguese.
He died enroute to China on December 3,1552. He was buried there and was later transferred to Goa as per his wish. At this occasion, his body was found intact. His body was preserved in an air tight coffin made of glass and placed inside a silver casket.
