Mylapore Kapaleeswarar Temple is an example of Dravidian architecture and is built in 7th century CE. The original temple which was built at the sea shores were destroyed by the Portuguese and the present structure was built about 1.5 km from the original location by the Tuluva dynasty of the Vijayanagara Kingdom later.
Brahmotsavam, Panguni Peruvizha, Arupathimoovar festival and Tirukkalyanam are important festivals of Mylapore Kapaleeshwarar Temple.
