Aruvadai, is an investigative action thriller with superstar Mammooty and Tamil action hero Arjun in the lead, has completed shooting last year.

Aruvadai is directed by T. Aravind, tells the story of a group of officers who go hunting for terrorists, who have been creating havoc in the Tamilnadu - Kerala border. Mammootty plays an officer in the Intelligence Bureau while Arjun plays a Superintendent of Police.

The film begins at RAW showing that the central investigative agency finds out that Malik, head of a terrorist organization, has crossed the border and entered India to execute deadly explosions in South India. Gopi Krishnan played by Mammootty, Southern zone command director of the Intelligence bureau, is assigned the task of tracing the plans of the group, eliminating them and destroying their plans.

Gopi Krishnan forms a core team with support from Anwar Hussain played by Arjun, who joins the group on deputation from the State police. The execution of Operation Malik forms the climax of the movie which was shot in Sengundram with the lead actors and many junior artistes.

The film will feature two heroines, Sneha as a pilot and wife of Gopi Krishnan and Sharadha Arya as an ornithologist as the love interest off Arjun. Deepak J.D. makes his debut as villain.

Other important roles are portrayed by Jagadish, Jai Akash, Riyaz Khan, Vijay Kumar, Rajan P. Dev, Raj Kapoor and Mumtaj.

Cinematography is by Vetri and Rajesh Yadav.

The action sequences and stunts were choreographed by stunt director Anal Arasu.

K. Santhosh has written the dialogues for the Malayalam version.
The five songs in the movie were penned by Gireesh Puthencherry and Vayalar Sharatchandra Varma and are tuned by Vidyasagar. The Tamil verses are written by P. Vijay, Vairamuthu and Yugabarathi.

The film is a bilingual project, being made simultaneously in Malayalam with the title Vande Matharam. Produced by Pankaj film’s Henry.

This patriotic action flick was made at a budget of Rs 14 crores.
