Director Arivazhagan an alumnus of Chennai Film Institute was assistant to Shankar in Boys and Anniyan. He had won a gold medal for short film he made during his college days.

Now, Arivazhagan directs the film Eeram in which Mirugam fame Adhi and Nanda share the screen space. The film also stars Sindhu Menon and Saranya Mohan in important roles. Lion share of the film has been completed; and most of it was shot in an apartment complex built for this film. The latter part of film was completed in Trichy and Pondicherry.

Sindhu Menon, a famous Malayalam actress who played cameo roles in Samuthiram and Kadal Pookkal, is making her way back as heroine through this film.

Arivazhagan takes care of the story, screenplay, and dialogues of Eeram.

Eeram, coming from the production house of Shankar which has successfully delivered films like Kadhal and Imsai Arasan has already grabbed everyone’s attention.

Music is by Thaman who acted in film Boys. Cinematography has been handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, a student of College of Cinematography. Kishore is the editor. Stunts are choreographed by Stunt Selva. The special effects of Eeram will be done by Indian Graphics.

The crew is working to complete the final round of post production in Mumbai, as they aim to release the film soon.

The film is reported to have overshot its budget and this hasn't gone down well with Shankar. Arivazhagan is convinced that the film would be worth the money spent for.

The audio of the film has been released in Chennai. Superstar Rajinikanth launched the music album of thriller movie Eeram in an event held at Sathyam Cinemas.

Shankar's S Pictures will be producing 3 movies simultaneously this year after Arai Enn 305-l Kadavul. Eeram will be the first film among them. The second is a children’s film and is titled as Rettai Chuzhi, directed by Thamira who has penned dialogues for Balachandar's Poi.
