Gnyabagangal â Touching tale, Flimsy narration
Production: Pa. Vijay,
Direction: Jeevan
Star-casts: Pa. Vijay, Sri Devika, Jeevan and others.
Music: James Vick
Story, screenplay and dialogues: Pa. Vijay
Pa. Vijay has been vividly entertaining us with touching lyrics and for the first time he attempts for a glorious tale based on real life incidents. On the dot, the film opens with Pa. Vijay revealing about his friend Kathiravan who years back resided in his room. Kathiravan had a great dream and Pa. Vijay has them exposed in the climax.
Pa. Vijay himself enacts the role of Kathiravan, an aspiring lyricist who comes to Chennai seeking opportunity in Film Industry. He falls in love with a Marwadi Girl Meera (Sri Devika) and theyâre so adhered to each other.
Incisively, Kathir goes through turmoil when Meera is forced by her parents to marry someone. Years later, Kathiravan bags the prestigious National Award and heads for Haridwar to meet his ladylove whoâs married to someone now. On the encounter of his past love, he go throughout many unexpected situations and finally extends his last wish that often turns to be an emotional outburst amongst all.
Director Jeevan who hasnât yet made his debut directorial âMayiluâ ready for release has come up with good efforts. Pa. Vijay after many endeavors as a lyricist goes for a good start as an actor as well pens a gripping screenplay and dialogues. Most of the dialogues are so adhered with lyrical lines and that may seem to be quite fixing the audiences with boredom. Of course, the screenplay is adapted from Bengali Filmmaker Rituparno Ghoshâs âRain Coatâ. The penultimate sequences are so dragging that will send you out of senses.
On the whole, âGnyabagangalâ has a good tale on the papers and if Pa. Vijay had yet more embellished the script with a touching narration, the film would have been much finer. Director Jeevan on the pars shouldâve focused on certain technical aspects avoiding the flaws.
Verdict: Appreciations for Pa. Vijay for a good attempt.
