Kanthaswamy, the most anticipated film of the year, was set in motion almost two years ago, and will shortly be released.
PRICY RIGHTS
The overseas right of Vikram starrer, Kanthaswamy, has been sold to Ayngaran International for Rs 5 crores.
This is a record as global right of the film Anniyan was sold for around Rs 3 crores. Ayngaran has distributed many big banner films including Sivaji, Chandramukhi, Gilli, Alaipayuthey and Billa 2007.
Music right of the film has been sold to Sony-BMG for Rs 91 lakh. The audio release of Kanthaswamy/ Mallanna took place a few weeks ago and the songs by Devi Sri Prasad are topping the charts. All four of his songs have been sung by Vikram himself.
Sun TV has bought the home DVD rights for Rs 4.5 crores.
BIG BUDGET
Vikram is playing a superhero in the flick. He wears clothes worth Rs 75 lakh, while Shriya wears attires worth astounding Rs 1.25 crore.
The film was shot for a month in Mexico with a budget of Rs 8 crores.
Some scenes and a song were shot in Italy, which cost Rs 2 crore.
Being a superhero adventure, the film has a host of special effects which in itself have cost Rs 3 crores. Kanthaswamy which was filmed in five countries has a budget of Rs 30 crore, is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.
The Kanthaswamy Foundation
In a very baronial, refreshing and applaudable attempt in the history of cinema, the crew members including director Susi Ganesan and producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu, has commenced a charity group named The Kanthaswamy Foundation to work for the upliftment of villages that lack basic facilities and conveniences.
The foundation has chosen two villages Sangampatti and Gandhipuram in Madurai district. Repair and renovation of broken down school buildings and poorly-maintained roads have begun.
This kind of novel effort is what makes Vikram to a class which takes him above smuggling action stars.
SUBJECT
Kanthaswamy is a super hero subject with a logical twist. The film is about reducing the gap between the rich and the poor and how Vikram manages to excavate black money, pushes the story forward.
He plays an investigative officer and has donned eight different roles in many different get ups in the film. There is liberal dose of glamour, valor, romance, suspense and foot tapping music.
RELEASE
Apart from Malaysia, Singapore, UK, US and Canada Kanthaswamy will also be distributed across Europe, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Sri Lanka.
In addition to Tamil, the film titled Mallana will be simultaneous released in the Tamil Nadu and Andhra markets. Vikram is extremely popular in Kerala as well. Hence the producers hope that it will be well-received there.
This film will be dubbed into two foreign languages: Italian and Spanish.
The inauspicious Aadi Masam starts on July 17th, the producers may not take chance.
Vikram is hoping for the best, and is firm that he wonât start his next project before the release of Kanthaswamy. Everybody in and out of tinsel town is excited and eagerly waiting Kanthaswamy.
