Kanthaswamy â Doesn't exceed your expectations
Banner: V Creations
Production: Kalaipuli S Dhanu
Direction: Susi Ganeshan
Star-casts: Vikram, Shriya, Vadivelu, Prabhu, Krishna and others
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Itâs Vikramâs earnest hard work that stops you from getting annoyed in this 3hrs.15mins of show. Trust us! âKanthaswamyâ, the most expected flick of this season is a great disappointment not simply for all Chiyaan fans, but everyone, including you and me who just waited day and night for this show. The film brings back the traces of Vikramâs yesteryear films: Anniyan and Samurai.
The film boasts about nothing but economic offences and black money.
The story opens with hundreds and thousands of innocent believers of God, writing their petitions. On the very day, theyâre granted with their intercessions. This is really a miracle. So, who does it?
So simple as you wouldâve guessed. Itâs a superhero kind of entity who delivers the financial aids as well sorts out other kind of troubling issues for these people. There youâve Kanthaswamy (Vikram), a CBI officer whoâs on the heels of trapping each and every kingpin in metropolitan city with excess black money (Ashish Vidhyarthi and co). On the pars of working as a government servent, the civilian transfigures into âKanthaswamyâ during night times and becomes the savior of masses.
What else then? Itâs all as you predict: Hero Vs Baddies for the well-being of millions of innocents.
Vikram is more invigorated in each and every frame. And indeed, we get to spot him smarter with trimmed looks. He astounds us with his different-shaded characterizations and keeps us entertained. But the biggest drawback on the screens is none other than Shriya Charan. Itâs really puzzling to know how come filmmaker Susi Ganesh opted for her. She seems to be presuming herself as Angelina Jolie (her makeovers resembles), but she scores 0/10. More than all, Suchitraâs voice for Shriya looks more unapt and doesnât suit the space.
Prabhuâs performance is passable with clichéd performance. Ace actor Krishna has got a vital role to play and heâs awesome. Vadivelu saves the ship from sinking to a certain extent. Susi Ganeshanâs role goes more middling with not-so well prominence. Aashish Vidyarthi is perfect.
Technically, the film lacks solidity on all panoramas. Says, itâs not something to be underrated but over-done. The cinematography is good, but the strong yellowish shades do turn us nettlesome and editing with rapid cuts is amateurish.
Susi Ganesh shouldâve trimmed the screenplay for 150mins or else crafted an interesting screenplay. With both of these elements completely missing, it turns the audiences more restless.
Finally, with more promotions mounted prior to this flick, âKanthaswamyâ has less probabilities of making it big. But with producers and distributors having the film shows pre-booked for next one week, the can have their piece of cake for celebration.
Verdict: Average
