Manmadha Rajyam is a new film directed by TV series Mangai fame Harirajan. He made debut directorial with Pollachi Maappilai starring Sathyaraj in lead.

Manmadha Rajyam was earlier titled Manmadha Leelai. But the owner of this title veteran K Balachandar denied permission as he is planning to remake Manmadha Leelai, which he made decades ago with Kamal Haasan in the lead.

Harirajan rechristened his film as Manmadha Rajyam which is a romantic thriller. It has Keerthi Chawla, Tejashree, Akshaya and Mega Nair in lead roles.

The movie went on floors with Monica as one of the heroines. Due to some differences with director she opted out of Manmadha Rajyam. The film has complete new faces in lead role while sensuous actresses star opposite them.

Malavika will appear in a song and dance sequence. After her marriage this is the first time that she will do an item number. She to earlier opt out of film after signing in for the project, but later came back.

In the words of Mangai Harirajan, “I narrated the story of Manmadha Rajyam before Malavika’s marriage and gave an advance of 1 lakh. The actress accepted it as she was satisfied with the character but post marriage she got busy.

We understood her state of affairs and booked Tejashree in her role. Recently Malavika came to return the advance money, however we refused to get it back and asked her to do an item dance as a replacement. Malavika accepted to do it for the good relation we have with her.”
