Irksomely spelled work by debutant Srinath and you've nothing to comment on your verdicts. Erstwhile to film’s release, it was interesting to read the film’s synopsis that kicked-high our excitements and merely we’re disappointed with the affirmative outlook. The zilch elements are much prevalent although Aneez Jeeva has penned a gripping tale. Screenplay lacks substantiality bounded to much absurdities and loopholes.

The film is about a hi-tech thief Azhagu (Daniel Balaji) befriending a petty thief Satya (Nithin Satya). Eventually, they’ve their own girlfriends and story moves ahead. But precisely ahead of these guys, there’s a parallel story of political murder. If you’re still thinking what the connection between these two parallel stories is, there is. There’s a strange person (Chetan) who doesn’t speak a much to his neighbors Azhagu and Satya. Commissioner from Mumbai (Kishore) lands in Chennai for the confusion stirred up due to a strange phone call.

Things take a twist of turn once these characterizations come across each with an unpredictable climax.

Although the story draws likeliness towards audiences, there are few discombobulating aspects. How do the leading ladies get designer costumes in the remote village where they take refuge in? Aneez Jeeva doesn’t pen a gripping screenplay as it lacks racy elements. Daniel Balaji remains with his unique style but Nithin Satya seems to be more imitating Director Srinath himself. Manchari and Lakshmi Rai don’t have anything to perform efficiently. Rakhi Sawant’s dance is a best show. Ponvannan, Anand and Kishore have done best of their efforts.

Musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja adds to more commendable vistas as well the background scoring. Cinematography by Salim has eye-catching visuals and songs are quite impressively shot. Antony’s editing is slightly amateurish in songs and works well on action-packed sequences.

On the whole, ‘Mutthirai’ has a good story on paper and yet doesn’t gratify the audiences with an interesting screenplay. When compared to other potboiler masala flicks, this film is worth watching once.

Verdict: Watch it to kill your time.
