A new computer Virus, believed to be orginated from Ukrain or China has infected more than 1.5 crore computers worldwide as per computer securiy experts.

This fast spreading virus, know as Downadup, Conficker or Kido has attacked 60 lakh computers in past 3 days alone.

This virus was first detected in October 2008 which used a flaw in Microsoft Windows to spread on local network and internet. Microsoft released a patch in October to protect PCs from this worm which mainly targeted Windows users. But now experts believe that currently spreading virus is a new variat as it spreads at a very rapid rate.

Once infected, Downadup/Conficker disables a number of system services, including Windows Automatic Update and Windows Security Center. The worm then connects to a malicious server, where it downloads additional malware to install on the infected computer.

Last week microsoft included a Downadup/Conficker detection facility to its Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT).

One British newspaper said that 3,000 British organizations, including hospitals and the Ministry of Defense computers were infected by this virus.

Security expert suggests many measures to avoid an attack like installing latest Windows updates, Ant-ivirus, Anti-spyware and firewall programs.
