Democratic candidate Barack Obama is to become next President of United States of America as per US media projections.
He is projected to have won enough states to guarantee that he has beaten Republican rival John McCain. He has so far held most of the Democratic strongholds , as well as seizing at least three from the Republicans.
Obama is projected to have seized Ohio, New Mexico and Iowa, all Republican Strongholds.
As per the latest projections Obama is expected to get 297 electoral votes and Maccain to get 137 votes. Obama need just 270 for a victory.
Obama will be sworn in as the 44th U.S. president on January 20, 2009.
