Osthi is the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg, in which Salman Khan played the leading role. Osthi has Silambarasan in the pivotal role, while Richa Gangopadhya play the female lead. Sonakshi Sinha played the role of the village belle in the original Dabangg.

Osthi is directed by S. Dharani. Sonu Sood, Githan Ramesh, Nassar, Revathi, Saranya Mohan, Santhanam and Vijayakumar are in the supporting roles in Osthi.

Mallika Sherawat appears in an item number with Silambarasan in Osthi. Osthi is shot in and around Mysore. Simbu plays a cop, Vel Murugan, in the movie. Jithan Ramesh will play the role of Simbu's brother.

Music is scored by Thaman. Osthi is produced by Mohan Apparao and T. Ramesh under the banner Balaji Real Media and is distributed by Reliance Entertainment. Gopinath handles

cinematography while editing is done by V.T. Vijayan.

Osthi is all set to release on November 18, 2011.
