Maniratnam films are marked with contention whether it is Bombay or Guru, Nayakan or Kannathil Muthamittal. From the day of instauration, film Ravanan has been in news for diverse reasons. This movie which is said to depict the epic in a different light has raised enough eyebrows as it renders Ramayana from Ravana's point of view.

Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Abhishek Bachan are the lead stars in this trilingual film which is being served in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Latest Smalltalk regarding Raavanan is that Aishwarya Rai got bruised while doing a mountain climbing sequence.

As per the scene Aishwarya had to climb steep path up with Ravana, twice because she is doing it for both Tamil and Hindi versions. First she climbed up with Abhishek for Hindi and then she retracted to again climb up with Vikram.

Mani had kept everyone guessing as even unit members are not aware of what's running in his mind. The latest buzz doing rounds is Manirathnam had shot four climaxes for Raavanan.

Possible Climax 1 - Antagonist wins heroine's heart.
Possible Climax 2 - Antagonist dying
Possible Climax 3 - Agonist dying
Possible Climax 4 - Heroine overcomes antagonist’s tantrums and reaches agonist.

Chances are there that the maestro may come up with a new climax, which enthralls the viewers.

Post production work is going on at a bracing pace in Chennai. Vikram himself is dubbing for Telugu. He takes utmost care as his character speaks a rural slang. Ravan will be screened at Cannes Film Festival in May and Maniratnam has planned to complete the work well in advance, as he requires taking care of promoting the picture. Raavan will be releasing all over the world on June 18.

Actress Ranjitha – Nithyananda Swami Tape turned many people ablush as it clearly shows them in compromising positions. News sources cooked up findings that Ranjitha with the help of one of swami’s disciple has placed hidden camera to blackmail Swami. Ranjitha later said "I am a good family girl. I have been a leading actress in the South Indian films. I am devotee of Swami Nithyananda since he rectified my sinusitis in a single day. I was massaging his legs and giving him tablets and food, it is just a part of any devotees".

There were hearsays that Maniratnam may delete scenes involving the actress in his venture. Ranjitha plays Vikram's sister in law in Raavanan. It is now known that director has retained scenes involving the actress.
