Shivraj Patil quits, Chidambaram new Home Minister

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil resigned on Sunday in connection with recent terror attacks in the country including the Mumbai episode. He was under tremendous criticism over a spate of terrorists attacks in last one year.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accepted his resignation and asked Finance Minister P Chidambaram to take charge of the Home Ministry.
Congress working committee met on Saturday night. During the meeting many congress workers asked for Patil's resignation.
Mumbai hostage crisis went out of control and took long hours mainly because of the delay in bringing NSG and Army to the rescue operations.
As per the latest reports more resignations possible in the wake of weak handling of the crisis. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh also expected to resign as senior congress leaders are not happy with his poor handling of the the biggest terror attack India ever experienced.
