R Ammu Ramesh, who was assistant to Jayam Raja in films Something Something Unakkum Enakkum and Santhosh Subramanian, is making his debut directorial venture with Thambikottai. Ammu Ramesh is also writing the story and screenplay of the movie.

Prabhu, Mysskin, Jayam Ravi, Jayam Raja, Mohan, Kalaipuli S Thanu, Prasanna, Nakul and Poonam Bajwa were present for the launch function of film Thambikottai in AVM Pillayar Kovil.

The film has Narain and Poonam Bajwa in the lead. Sangeetha will do a negative role while Prabhu and Meena plays key role. Unlike other actresses who disappear from acting after marriage, Meena will be seen acting as the elder sister of Narain in this flick.

Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu, Manobala, Alex, Rajendran, Manohar and Muthukalai do supporting roles. Film's locations are Chennai, Hyderabad, Thambikottai and Pudukottai.

Village Thambikkottai is popular for violence and the story is based on the events happened in that locality. Thambikkottai has cinematography by Kannan and music by D.Imman.

Poonam who has worked opposite stars like Allu Arjun in Paragu and with Nagarjuna in Boss, I Love You, did commendable work in her debut Tamil flick, Seval, opposite Bharath, and Thenavattu with Jeeva.
