No wonder, it's part and parcel of Vishal's flick. How can an actor afford to take such a big risk in presenting the clichéd elements again and again? Like 'Satyam', this one is yet another disappointing film from Vishal that in no way tots up for any appreciations. Moreover, it was a disastrous moment as theatres were almost empty much before the climax. Unbearable punch dialogues, stunts and flimsy romance is all 'Thoranai' loaded. If you're ready to sustain your senses without running harebrained, you can go ahead watching this film

Murugan (Vishal) from down south makes his arrival to find his brother who was lost in during his childhood. With his mother much saddened with his loss, he vows her to get back his brother Ganesh. But much before his arrival, the audiences are exposed to couple of gang leaders Tamizharasan (Prakash Raj) and Guru (Kishore) who are dead against and cause pitfalls for each other. With Murugan vividly getting onto search his brother in the big city of Chennai, situations pushes him to get on for an unexpected clash between the Tamizharasan and Ganesh. But a twisting point goes the way as Murugan is unaware that one amongst them is his brother.

Vishal doesn't try anything new and it's really pitiable to find that the same old traits of his previous films are much prevalent here. Uttering punch dialogues now and then really goes tiresome for the audiences and even Prakash Raj, Kishore are handed with lots of their dialogues of self-appraisals. And as everyone knows, lots of chases on Bolero Jeeps, henchmen with long hairs and hefty physiques getting hit by the hero are found more at unnecessary points. Shriya Charan's performance has nothing to appreciate about. She scores 0/10. Her expressions are overactive and she can better reduce her expositions of skin shows. Prakash Raj and Kishore have done justice to their roles and Santhanam, Mayilsamy add better entertainment with their humor quotients.

Musical score by Manisharma is most uncollectible and none of them are feet-tapping numbers even for the C centres. Cinematography is quite commendable in few portions while editing looks a bit amateurish. Although the climax fight has been depicted with more grips, the climax dialogue of apologizing is again a cliché that annoys the audiences.

On the whole, 'Thoranai' isn't a worth watching film for it doesn't carry even a justifying factor on best credits.

Verdict: Better Avoid it

1/5
