Vaanam is the remake of the critically acclaimed Telugu movie Vedam. Vedam had Allu Arjun and Anushka in the leading roles.

In Vaanam, Silambarasan dons the lead role of Cable Raju. Sneha Ullal plays the leading lady role of the sex worker. It is heard that Anushka will don her same role in Vaanam as in Vedam. But now the actress is said to be only in an item number with Simbu.

The film is being produced by VTV productions and Magic Box pictures. Vaanam is directed by Krish.

Nirav Shah is the cameraman and Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director. Bharat will play a budding rock star in the film. This role was donned by Manchu Manoj in the original.

The film is about five different characters and how their lives are intercrossed on an unexpected day.

It is also rumored that producers are planning to change the title Vaanam. Vaanam is expected as a Diwali release.
