Vamanan an avatar of Lord Vishnu was dwarfish; he dethroned the honorable king Mahabali trapping the latter over the word the respectable king has given to Vamanan. Jai’s role in this film as protagonist Anand will be similar.

Jai of Subramaniapuram and Chennai 600028 fame is considered lucky in Kollywood. The hero is acting in Adhe Neram Adhe Idam and Aval Peyar Tamizharasi.

Jai is playing the character of Anand, a young man who comes to Chennai to pursue his dream of acting in films. He stays with his friend Chandru played by Santhanam. His new contacts which he develops in Chennai introduce him to a new world. The story moves forward and the hero manage to lay his hands on a precious diamond placed in the handbag of an actress.

Jai has gone through a drastic makeover and lost many kilos of flesh. His comments in an interview had earlier dragged him to trouble.

Vamanan is an action film which may take Jai to next levels.

Namitha was first considered for the role opposite Jai, which eventually went to Lakshmi Rai. New girl Priya Anand shakes legs with Jai in this film.

Vaamanan is directed by debutant Ahmed who was assistant to director Kadhir. He has written the story and screenplay and dialogues for the film. Ahmed has been working as a host in a Malaysian television channel.
The film has used RC helicopter for the first time in South India. Some important scenes of the film and songs were filmed in Singapore, South Africa and New Jersey.

The film, started with an estimated 2 crore rupees budget, has now been finished 7 crore rupees.

Aravind Krishna, who handled the camera for Kuselan, will be Vamanan’s cinematographer. Stunt Siva choreographs stunts.

Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Na. Muthukumar wrote the lyrics. Vamanan's audio was launched at Satyam Cinemas. The guest list included Jayam Ravi, Parthipan, Karthi, Anbalaya Prabhakar and Sivasakthi Pandian. The audio was brought out by Sony Music.
