Vanayudham is an upcoming Tamil movie based on the life of Veerappan, the Sandalwood smuggler. The movie is directed by AMR Ramesh.

Arjun Sarja play the role of the Special Task Force Chief Vijayakumar. Kishore portrays the character of Veerappan while Vijayalakshmi of Chennai 600028 fame acts as Muthulakshmi, wife of Veerappan.

Yesteryear actress Jayachitra play the role Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Vanayudham. The film is produced by AMR Ramesh, V.Srinivas and Jagadeesh under the banners Akshaya Creations, Sai Sri Cinemas and S Lad Entertainment. Sandeep Chowta composes music.

Suresh Oberai plays the role of Dr Rajkumar, who was being abducted by Veerappan.

Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi seeks a ban on the film, as she claims the film will portray her late husband and family in bad light. The director has collected a lot of inside information about the abducting of Dr. Rajkumar and also the incidents that lead to the end of Veerappan.

Vanayudham will be shot in real locations. Ravi Kale, A M R Ramesh, Jayachitra, Suresh Oberoi, Shikha and Lakshmi Rai are the others in the cast.

Vanayudham started shooting and will grace theatres later this year.
